Our approach

AATT delivers nationally recognised qualifications differently from traditional classroom-based RTOs. We don't operate a fixed practical training workshop. Instead, we work with you in your real workplace — recognising the skills you already have and integrating your formal learning with the work you're already doing.

Two pathways

Pathway 1 — Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) with Workplace-Based Gap Training

Who it's for: Industry-experienced workers (2+ years) seeking formal recognition of skills already developed.

How it works:

  1. You complete a Pre-Training Review with an AATT advisor (free, no obligation)
  2. AATT issues an RPL Candidate Kit and Evidence List
  3. You collect evidence: photos, videos, work samples, references, qualifications, supervisor reports
  4. AATT assessors review the evidence against unit requirements
  5. Structured Competency Conversation with your assessor (video or in-person)
  6. Gap analysis identifies any gaps — Gap Training is delivered through the AATT Learning Portal and targeted workplace activities
  7. Final competency decision per unit; nationally recognised qualification issued

Typical duration: 2–6 months. RPL fee: AUD $1,500.

Pathway 2 — Workplace-Based Delivery

Who it's for: Learners currently employed by a building/construction contractor who want to build their qualification through real work.

How it works:

  1. Free Pre-Training Review with an AATT advisor
  2. Workplace Training Agreement signed between you, your employer, your workplace supervisor, and AATT
  3. Online theory delivered via the AATT Learning Portal
  4. Practical learning integrated into your real work tasks
  5. Monthly AATT assessor site visits for observation and competency assessment
  6. Workplace supervisor provides on-job mentorship and third-party verifications
  7. Qualification issued when all units are complete

Typical duration: 9–24 months. Course fee: AUD $2,000.

How we assess

AATT assessment uses multiple methods to verify your competence, applying the Principles of Assessment (fair, flexible, valid, reliable) and Rules of Evidence (valid, sufficient, authentic, current):

  • Workplace observation by AATT assessors
  • Photographs and video of your work, authenticated with date and identity verification
  • Third-party reports from your workplace supervisor
  • Work samples — drawings, project documents, completion records
  • Online knowledge assessments via the AATT Learning Portal
  • Structured competency conversations

Our sites

AATT operates from two administrative sites: Sydney Burwood and Melbourne Collins Street. Both sites are used for learner interviews, Competency Conversations, and administration. Practical learning and assessment occur at your workplace — not at our sites.
